School Age

Hopewell School offers two school age classrooms for students ages 6-21.  Classes are provided for children who meet the eligibility requirements for students with multiple disabilities and their IEP team has determined that Hopewell School is the least restrictive environment for the student.

The school age teachers use the Attainment Curriculum which focuses on academics, social skills, self-care skills, life skills and communication. Throughout the day you may see the students doing laundry, identifying money, shredding paper, sorting silverware, and working on hygiene skills. The school provides speech therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, aquatic therapy, and adaptive physical education in order to meet the individual needs of all students.

The overall goal for school age students is to prepare them for life outside of school.  The staff strive daily to meet the individual needs of the students in order to be one step closer to independence.
